Free workshop: Come and try soft stone carving

$0.00

SUNDAY 27 APRIL
10AM - 4PM
ArtEyrea, 14 Mortlock Tce, Port Lincoln

Everyone is welcome to try out soft limestone carving and create your own sculpture to take home. Instructors will guide you to safely use hand tools to make whatever 3D or relief shape you like.

All ages are welcome - younger children must be supervised at all times by an adult.

No booking required - just roll up during the day! Sculpting and safety instructions will be given as participants arrive… up to 15 people can carve stone at a time, so there could be a little wait. We look forward to sculpting with you!

Accessibility
Mt Gambier limestone is soft and can be carved without great force. Suitable for participants with some restrictions in strength and mobility.

Seats or stools can be used during carving, and bench widths are likely to accommodate access for most wheelchair users.

SA Stone Sculptors Association Instructors
Silvio Apponyi, Ruth Gregor and Sally Wickes will be the SASSA stone carving instructors for this event. SASSA instructors are all active stone sculptors, most with decades of stone sculpting experience. They have instructed diverse groups and individuals in stone carving from primary school students through to general public classes with elderly participants.
