Who We Are

Eyre Arts Action Inc was established in the mid 1980s to support and foster arts communities and cultural activities within the Eyre Peninsula region.

Our objectives expressed in our Constitution are:

  • To co-ordinate artists, art groups and cultural groups and organisations in the Eyre Peninsula region

  • To promote, encourage and assist in the performance of and participation in the arts and cultural activities in the Eyre Peninsula region

  • to assess the need for and work towards the provision of necessary and appropriate facilities for the performance of and participation in the arts

  • To extend media and other coverage of the arts, crafts and other groups with community bases

  • To improve awareness in schools as to indigenous and local art activity

  • To establish and maintain a permanent collection of art works for the Eyre Peninsula region

  • To do all other things as may be incidental to the attainment of these objectives.

We are reliant on volunteers and we are funded by membership, available grants and proceeds from events and workshops to progress our aims. We have a strong, supportive and positive relationship with the Port Lincoln City Council and we operate as a spokes-group for the Southern Eyre Peninsula arts community.

Eyre Arts Action regularly participates in local events and festivals to highlight the visual arts with visitors and the local community. We participate in the Colour Tumby Street Art Festival held annually in March and the SALT Festival held annually in April, holding events such as ‘en plain air’ days and exhibitions.

Our current strategic objectives are:

  • Apply for available grants/funding or projects that align with the organisation’s Purpose

  • Increase individual and group membership numbers

  • Utilize digital, print and broadcasts media to promote Eyre Arts Action’s Purpose

  • Co-ordinate an annual EAA Arts event, solely or in conjunction with other organisations

  • Conduct bi-monthly meetings to enable planning for the goals of the Strategic Plan to be met

  • Operate as a spokes-group for the Southern Eyre Peninsula arts community

  • Be an umbrella organization to other groups and users of the ArtEyrea building and to represent their interests with respect to the building and Port Lincoln City Council.

“Life is short, art is long”.
